The X-Ray and DTDB Mod combo gives you two useful tools for older Minecraft versions. X-Ray makes selected blocks transparent so you can see what’s underneath. Perfect for finding ores, checking what went wrong with your redstone circuits, or just exploring underground without the mining.
X-Ray Features
X-Ray comes with three main functions you can toggle in-game:
- X-Ray (X key): Toggle transparency on selected blocks so you can see through them.
- Brightness (C key): Press once to highlight mobs, press twice to highlight everything. Press a third time to reset to default.
- Cave Finder (V key): Spot caves and open spaces underground.
Rebind the hotkeys in your game’s Controls menu if the defaults don’t work for you. To customize which blocks show or hide, press Ctrl+X in-game to open the mod menu. Red blocks are hidden, transparent blocks are shown. Press Enter to toggle.
DTDB Mod: Reposition the Done Button
DTDB stands for “Damn That Done Button.” It’s a simple utility mod that moves the Done button from its default spot to the center bottom of the controls menu. Small quality-of-life improvement if you find the default position annoying.
How to Install
- Install a mod loader for your Minecraft version (Forge or Risugami’s mod loader for versions 1.4.5-1.4.7)
- Download the mod file from the download section below that matches your Minecraft version
- Place the file in your .minecraft/mods folder
- Launch Minecraft with the Forge profile
For older versions: You may need to extract the mod files and merge them into your minecraft.jar file using an archive manager (7-Zip, WinRAR, etc). Delete the META-INF folder from the jar after extracting.
Version Compatibility
This mod is available for Minecraft 1.4.5, 1.4.6, and 1.4.7. Download the version that matches your Minecraft installation. These are legacy versions, so check compatibility with any other mods you’re using.
