Wooden Tools Are Dumb Mod
Wooden Tools Are Dumb Mod replaces wooden pickaxes and axes with flint alternatives that actually make sense. Instead of hitting stone with wood, you’ll craft flint tools first. It’s a small change that makes the early game feel more realistic and gives you actual progression to work toward.
This mod comes in three difficulty modes so you can play however you want. Whether you want a harder challenge or just a more immersive experience, there’s something here for you.
What’s Different
The main thing this mod does is remove wooden pickaxe and wooden axe from the early game. Instead, you’ll need to find flint and craft flint tools. Flint breaks when you mine a certain amount of stone, so you still need to work toward your first real pickaxe. It’s harder than vanilla, but it actually feels like progress when you craft that stone pickaxe.
Three Play Modes
Easy Mode: Craft a flint pickaxe, mine stone until it breaks, you’re done with the mod. No challenge, but more realistic than wooden pickaxe.
Nothing Mode: If another mod gives you stone tools or flint drops, you can disable most features. The mod just gives you the flint hatchet and steps back. You handle getting stone your own way.
Hard Mode (Default): This is what the mod was made for. You only have flint tools. Figure out how to get stone without being told. It’s harder but way more rewarding when you finally craft that first stone pickaxe.
Getting Started
You can’t punch trees anymore in hard mode. Get flint first. Gravel has flint inside, or you can find it elsewhere. Grab some sticks, craft a flint hatchet, and now you can actually chop trees. After that, make a crafting table and chest, then figure out how to get stone.
Installation
This mod requires Forge or Fabric. Follow the installation guides below for your mod loader.
