Vex Armor Trim is a smithing template added in Minecraft 1.20 that lets you apply a purple vex-themed design to your armor. This guide shows you how to find it and use it.
What is Vex Armor Trim?
Vex Armor Trim is a decorative template that adds a purple vex pattern to your armor pieces. You apply it using a Smithing Table with any armor piece and an amethyst shard. The trim doesn’t change armor stats, just the look. There are 16 different trim designs in Minecraft, and Vex is one of them.
Where to Find Vex Armor Trim
You can’t craft Vex Armor Trim. You need to find it in the world, specifically inside Woodland Mansions.
Step 1: Locate a Woodland Mansion
Woodland Mansions only spawn in Dark Forest biomes. They’re large structures that look like actual mansions, usually pretty hard to miss once you find the right biome. Use the /locate command to find one quickly: /locate structure mansion
Step 2: Search for Chests
Once you’re inside the mansion, start exploring. Chests can appear in various rooms. The most common place to find Vex Armor Trim is in chests near the central area of the mansion. Look carefully, there are a lot of rooms.
Step 3: Loot the Chest
Open any chests you find. There’s a good chance you’ll get Vex Armor Trim. If you don’t find it in one chest, keep looking. Mansion chests have multiple items in them.
How to Use Vex Armor Trim
Once you have the template, apply it to your armor like this:
- Open a Smithing Table
- Put your armor piece in the first slot
- Put the Vex Armor Trim in the second slot
- Add an amethyst shard in the third slot
- Take your trimmed armor from the result slot
You can apply the same trim to multiple armor pieces. Each piece needs its own amethyst shard.
