Torch Optimizer Mod 1.17.1 & 1.16.5 (Light Level Display)

Torch Optimizer shows light levels as numbers floating on top of blocks. This makes it super easy to see exactly where you need to place torches and other light sources to prevent mobs from spawning.

The mod displays the intensity of light in your world, so you can optimize placement for maximum mob control. You can toggle the overlay on and off with a hotkey, and configure everything through the in-game settings.

Features

Light Level Overlay

See the exact light value at every block. Numbers range from 0 (no light) to 15 (full brightness). This helps you find dark spots where mobs can spawn.

Torch Placement Indicator

Enable optimal placement mode to see suggested spots for torches. The mod can show an asterisk on blocks where torches would be most effective.

Customizable Config

Adjust which light level gets highlighted and toggle the display on the fly. Choose exactly where you want the placement indicator to appear from 0 to 15.

Keyboard Shortcuts

• F7: Toggle light level overlay
• Shift + F7: Toggle skylight calculation
• Ctrl + F7: Toggle overlay display

You can change all these keybinds in your controls settings if you want different keys.

Installation

Torch Optimizer works with both Minecraft Forge and Fabric mod loaders.

1. Download the version that matches your Minecraft installation
2. Download and install the mod loader (Forge or Fabric)
3. Place the mod file in your .minecraft/mods folder
4. Launch the game
