How do I get into the Aincrad dimension?

Craft the NerveGear Helmet and place a bed. Use the bed while wearing the helmet and it will teleport you into Aincrad. If you die, you respawn in the overworld as normal.

Do the swords actually have different abilities or are they just cosmetic?

Each sword has its own stats and special moves, so they play differently from each other. They're not just Minecraft swords with a different texture.

Does the Sword Art Online Mod work with OptiFine?

Generally yes. OptiFine and Forge mods run together fine on 1.7.10. Install Forge first, then OptiFine on top of it as usual.

Can I use this on a multiplayer server?

It should work on a Forge server as long as all players have the mod installed and the server is running the same version. Test in a small group first since multiplayer compatibility can vary.

Is this mod available for newer Minecraft versions?

This build is for Minecraft 1.7.10 only. There is no officially updated port available on 1Minecraft for newer versions at this time.

Sword Art Online Mod for Minecraft 1.7.10

The Sword Art Online Mod drops the entire SAO anime into Minecraft 1.7.10. You get Aincrad as a real playable dimension, 10 swords pulled straight from the show with their own special moves, mobs that drop EXP and loot, NPCs to trade with, and a proper 100-floor progression with a boss at the end of each dungeon. For a fan mod, this one’s actually put together well.

Ten swords are in the mod right now, each with different stats and special moves. Not just reskins:

Aincrad Dimension

Aincrad is added as a full dimension, a floating castle with 100 floors to work through. To get there you need the NerveGear Helmet and a bed. Use the bed while wearing the helmet to teleport in. Death sends you back to the overworld normally, no brain-frying involved.

Items, Armor and Food

Custom armor sets with their own stats, plus food you can buy from town NPCs or loot from mobs in Aincrad. More content is being added as the mod develops.

Mobs and NPCs

Aincrad is full of monsters that give EXP and drop useful items. NPCs are scattered through the towns, some of them buying and selling gear. It’s a basic shop system but it works.

Bosses and Floor Progression

Every floor has a dungeon with a boss at the end. You have to kill the boss to unlock the next floor. Boss loot is noticeably better than what field mobs drop, so there’s a real reason to push forward instead of just grinding the lower floors forever.

Download and install Minecraft Forge for Minecraft 1.7.10.
Download the mod file from the link below.
Open your .minecraft/mods folder. If it doesn’t exist, create it.
