Steve’s Factory Manager is an automation mod that lets you move items between inventories and machines using a graphical flowchart interface. No programming required. You wire up commands visually, set a timer or redstone trigger, and the system handles the rest. If you’ve ever wanted logistics automation without writing a single line of code, this one’s actually worth it.
How It Works
The core of the mod is the Machine Inventory Manager block. It sits at the center of your network and runs commands based on timers (1 to 999 seconds), redstone signals, or block updates. Commands are built in a flow chart GUI inside the machine’s interface. The system can move up to 999 items per command, processes transfers instantly across the network, and supports up to 512 commands per manager.
Blocks and Components
Core Blocks
- Machine Inventory Manager – The main block. Every setup needs one. Manages all connected blocks and runs your command flow chart. Limited to 6 direct connections, extended via Inventory Cables.
- Inventory Cable – Connects inventories, machines, and other SFM blocks to the network. Use these to extend your reach beyond the 6 faces of the manager.
Redstone and Detection
- Redstone Emitter – Adds, subtracts, or changes a redstone signal on any face of the block.
- Redstone Receiver – Reads a redstone signal from any face. Use this to trigger commands from external signals.
- Block Detector – Fires when a block update happens, like crops advancing to the next growth stage or a block being placed nearby.
Inventory Interaction
- Inventory Relay – Connects to inventories in adjacent entities, like a minecart chest. Does not interact with players.
- Advanced Inventory Relay – Same as above, but also works with player inventories. Players must register their own names on the machine to prevent griefing.
Item Pickup
- Item Valve – Picks up item entities from the world. Respects the standard drop delay players have when dropping items. Covers a 7x7x7 area in front or a 3-block radius around it.
- Rapid Item Valve – Same as the Item Valve but skips the standard drop delay entirely.
Block Interaction
- Block Gate – In input mode, it breaks and collects blocks. In output mode, it places blocks or drops items. Placement priority is 2 blocks away first, then 1 block, then dropped on the ground. Can use items with a right-click action like a hoe, though it drops the item afterward.
- Sign Updater – Updates the text on vanilla signs through the network.
Cable Camouflage
- Cable Camouflage – Makes any cable face look like another block.
- Double-Sided Cable Camouflage – Also gives access to inside faces. Useful with transparent blocks like glass. Supports conditional appearance based on viewing angle, like a one-way mirror effect.
- Transforming Cable Camouflage – Like Double-Sided, but also lets you change the block’s 3D shape and collision in the world, similar to a ForgeMultipart block.
Cluster Blocks
- Cable Cluster – Packs multiple SFM blocks into a single block space (everything except the Machine Inventory Manager and Inventory Cable). Performs any function of the contained blocks.
- Advanced Cable Cluster – Like the Cable Cluster but also acts as an Inventory Cable.
Creative Mode
- Creative Supplier – Creative only. Outputs an infinite amount of any item in the game. Good for testing setups before committing resources.
