Do I need to find a vanilla spawner first to use SpawnerCraft?

Not necessarily. You need an Empty Spawner to create a new one, and those drop when you break a vanilla spawner. So you do need to find at least one to get started, but after that you can keep reusing and crafting from what you collect.

Can I make a spawner for any mob including bosses?

It works with any mob that has a registered spawn egg, which covers most regular mobs. Bosses like the Ender Dragon and Wither don't have spawn eggs, so you can't make spawners for those.

Does the Mob Fishing Pole work like a normal fishing rod?

No, it's a separate tool used only to kill mobs and collect essence. You can't use it for fishing.

Why isn't my spawner spawning anything after I place it?

SpawnerCraft doesn't change spawner mechanics, so the usual conditions still apply. Make sure lighting, space, and surface conditions match what that mob needs. Hostile mobs need darkness, passives need light and a grass surface nearby.

Can I get Wither Skeleton or Husk essences the same way as normal mobs?

Yes. The mod includes support for some vanilla mob variants including Wither Skeletons, Husks, and Strays. Kill them with the Mob Fishing Pole and you'll get their specific essence to work with.

SpawnerCraft Mod 1.12.2, 1.11.2 - Create Your Own Spawners

SpawnerCraft gives you the ability to create and place mob spawners in survival mode, no cheats required. You kill mobs with a special tool, collect their essence, craft it up through a few steps, and you have a working spawner. That’s it. Finally a way to set up mob farms without stumbling on a dungeon.

One thing to be clear about: this mod doesn’t change how spawners actually behave. Standard spawn rules still apply. Hostile mobs need darkness and space, passives need light and grass. But you can place a Blaze spawner in the Overworld if you want, which opens up a lot of farm designs that weren’t possible before.

How the Crafting Chain Works

The progression is straightforward once you know it:

Kill any mob with a Mob Fishing Pole to get 1 Essence of Mob
Place 4 Essences in a square to craft 1 Agglomeration of Mob
Place 4 Agglomerations in a square to craft 1 Spirit of Mob
Right-click with a Spirit to summon that mob directly
Click a Mob Cage with a Spirit to turn it into a working Mob Spawner
Breaking a vanilla spawner drops 1 Empty Spawner you can reuse

Other Things Worth Knowing

Works with custom mobs in theory, as long as they have a registered spawn egg
Supports some vanilla mob variants with their own Souls: Wither Skeletons, Husks, and Strays
Spirits double as a direct mob summon, not just spawner creation
