Can I use RandomPatches on a server?

Yes. RandomPatches works on both client and server. You can have it installed on just the server or just the client and it works fine with vanilla on the other side. You can even have different versions of the mod on client and server.

Will RandomPatches help with lag or connection issues?

It helps with timeout issues. If you keep getting disconnected on a slow connection or bad server, RandomPatches makes the timeout longer so you don't get kicked. It won't fix actual lag though.

What's the difference between RandomPatches and RandomTweaks?

RandomPatches only includes features that need ASM transformers. RandomTweaks has everything else. You can use both together.

Can I configure RandomPatches?

Yes. Everything is configurable. On 1.11 and up there's a GUI you can access in-game. Most settings take effect immediately without restarting.

Will RandomPatches break my save?

No. It's safe to add or remove at any time. The mod is designed to be compatible with vanilla saves.

RandomPatches is a utility mod that patches up annoying vanilla Minecraft bugs and adds quality-of-life tweaks. It works with both Forge and Fabric, and runs on the client or server. The best part? You can run it on just one side and vanilla players won’t care.

Key Features

Connection Timeouts

Vanilla Minecraft has hardcoded read and login timeouts that are way too short if you’re on a slower connection or playing on a laggy server. RandomPatches bumps these up to reasonable values by default (90 seconds read timeout, 900 seconds login timeout). You can tweak these in the config if needed.

Return to Title Screen

Tired of being dumped back to the multiplayer menu when you disconnect? Turn on the option to go straight to the title screen instead. Useful if you run auto-connect mods and want to actually log off without automatically rejoining.

Player Speed Limits

Get rid of the “Player moved too quickly” spam and rubber-banding. Adjust movement speed limits for normal movement, elytra flying, and vehicles. These changes take effect immediately in-game without restarting.

Language Switching

Switch languages without the game freezing up. It’s a small fix but makes a real difference if you bounce between language packs.

End Portal Fixes

RandomPatches fixes the ugly purple and black particle textures on end portals and makes them render from both sides instead of just from above. It’s purely visual but looks way better.

Narrator Keybind

Toggle the narrator on and off with a single key. Works on 1.12 and up. Cleaner than the vanilla implementation.

Boat Tweaks

Make boats actually float underwater instead of sinking. You can set how buoyant they are and optionally prevent passengers from getting kicked out after 3 seconds. Works with vanilla clients too.

More Fixes

RandomPatches also includes fixes for recipe book NBT bugs, minecart AI issues, entity suffocation, potion glint removal, skull stacking, and customizable window titles and icons. Most features can be toggled in the config GUI.
