Moving Light Sources is one of those mods that should’ve been in Vanilla Minecraft from the start. Want to carry a torch in your off-hand while mining with your pickaxe? Done. Want to use torches to burn mobs? Go for it. Want burning mobs to actually light up your surroundings? This mod does all that.
The core idea is dead simple: hold any light-emitting block in either hand and it lights up the area around you. Works with torches, lanterns, glowstone, sea lanterns, and anything else that emits light. Mods that add their own light sources work too, as long as they emit light by default.
Features
Carry Light Sources in Your Hands
Pick up any light-emitting block and hold it. Your immediate surroundings light up as if you were surrounded by that block. Perfect for exploring caves or mining without cluttering your base with temporary torches.
Torches as Weapons
Toggle torches to become weapons that apply the burning effect to mobs. They won’t replace your sword, but it’s a fun option when you need to burn something or just want to mess around.
Burning Mobs Cast Light
Set a mob on fire and it’ll start casting light. Same goes for flaming arrows. Makes burning things actually look impactful.
Fire Enchantments Glow
Items with Flame or Fire Aspect enchantments will emit light when you’re holding them. Small detail but it adds atmosphere.

Compatibility
This mod works with most other mods without issues. Since it only changes how light-emitting blocks behave, conflicts are pretty rare. Check the mod page if you run into problems with a specific mod.
