More Fun Quicksand Mod 1.7.10

This mod adds 18 different types of quicksands and similar hazards to Minecraft 1.7.10. Instead of just one boring quicksand, you’ll find bogs, tar pits, corrupted sand, and way more. They generate throughout the world and each has completely different behavior. Don’t like a type? Toggle it off in the config file.

Every quicksand block has its own texture, sound, and physics. Some are thick and slow. Others are thin and deadly. The mod also adds ropes and grappling hooks as rescue tools when you inevitably get stuck.

How Quicksand Works

Each type has 5 properties that control how it behaves:

  • Thickness: How fast you sink. Higher thickness equals slower sinking.
  • Viscosity: How hard it is to move horizontally. High viscosity locks you in place.
  • Suction power: How hard you need to pull to escape. Some types have suction strong enough to pin you down.
  • Solidity: Whether you can stand on the surface without sinking immediately.
  • Wading Boots: Whether special boots can save you (when used with Biomes O’ Plenty).

Survival Tips

Getting stuck is easy. Getting out is hard. Here’s what actually works:

  • If you’re shallow (knee-deep or less), jump. You might bounce out. Might.
  • Don’t dig the quicksand itself. Waste of time. Dig solid ground nearby and hope the suction isn’t strong enough to pull you back.
  • Spam jump if you’re deeper, but some types just pull you down faster. Luck matters here.
  • Stop moving. Every step sinks you deeper. Stay calm and wait for help.
  • If you have a rope or grappling hook, use it immediately. Some types don’t give you time to waste.
  • Just avoid it. Seriously. If you never fall in, you never need to get out.

Quicksand Types

Bog: Swamp quicksand. Thick but weak. You’ll slowly sink but it’s the safest type here.

Soft Snow: Rare in snowy biomes. Looks safe. Isn’t. You sink fast and any movement makes it worse.

Dry Quicksand: Desert sand pits. Loose and hard to escape from. Common but mean.

Morass: Wet plains and forests. Mossy, deceptive. Sometimes it holds weight. Sometimes it doesn’t.

Quicksand (Original): The classic. Desert and beach quicksand. Thick, viscous, and pulls you down hard.

Jungle Quicksand: Even worse than the original. Jungle mud mixed with dead plants. Very sticky.

Liquid Mire: Swamp ponds. Too thick to swim, can’t hold weight. You’ll struggle on the surface until you don’t.

Sinking Slime: Cavern slime that actually hungers for you. Slimes heal themselves standing on this. You sink faster than normal.

Mire: Swamp mud. Won’t sink while moving, but stop and you’re trapped. Almost impossible to move in once stuck.

Moor: Looks like normal grass but it’s covering a bog. You can walk on it fine until you can’t. Then you fall through into the mire.

Sinking Clay: Jungle pits with a thin clay shell on top. Break through and you’re stuck immediately, sinking fast.

Tar: Volcanic and Nether tar. Incredibly rare but incredibly deadly. Sticky, hot, and has insane suction. If you fall in, you won’t get out.

Larvae Pits: Roofed forest holes filled with unknown larvae. They want to eat you. Covered with cobwebs. Escape is impossible.

Corrupted Sand: Nether-only cursed soul sand. Gives you wither effect while standing on it. Spreads the curse to nearby blocks too.

Fleshy Pit: Looks like organic matter. Sinks you with average strength but extremely sticky.
