MineSafety Mod 1.18.1, 1.16.5 | Mining Safety Helmet Damage

MineSafety Mod enforces helmet safety while mining. Configurable damage below ground, depth gauge display, dimension blacklist. Forge/Fabric support.

MineSafety Mod adds a simple but effective rule to Minecraft: wear a helmet when you mine, or take damage for it. This mod ‘encourages’ smart mining practices by dealing small damage to players who venture underground without headgear. It’s configurable, works in most dimensions, and includes a handy depth gauge to track how far down you’ve gone.

Features

  • Damage for No Helmet: Take small amounts of damage when underground without a helmet. Stay safe or pay the price.
  • Configurable Damage Rate: Adjust how fast you take damage. Make it punishing or just a reminder.
  • Custom Y Level: Set the depth where the damage kicks in. Mine at Y-level 0 and above risk-free if you want.
  • Dimension Blacklist: Disable safety rules in specific dimensions. The Nether doesn’t care about your helmet anyway.
  • Depth Gauge Item: Craft the depth gauge and keep it in your inventory or hotbar. It displays your current Y level in the top left corner, turning red when a helmet is required.

How It Works

The mod monitors your position and helmet status every tick. Go below your configured depth without headgear, and you start taking damage. Equip a helmet (any kind works) and the damage stops. It’s that straightforward. This mechanic encourages players to think about their mining strategy and never lose a character to careless deep mining again.

Crafting the Depth Gauge

The depth gauge is the mod’s main crafted item. To see the exact recipe, we recommend installing Just Enough Items (Forge) or Roughly Enough Items (Fabric) and searching for the depth gauge in-game.
