Minecart with Furnace Guide
A minecart with furnace is one of the fastest ways to move items or players around your Minecraft world. Unlike regular minecarts that need you to push them, a furnace minecart burns fuel and moves on its own. This guide shows you how to make one and how it works.
What You Need to Craft It
To craft a minecart with furnace, you only need two things:
- 1 Furnace
- 1 Minecart
Both are easy to get. You can craft a furnace from cobblestone and a minecart from iron ingots.
Crafting Recipe
Step 1: Open Your Crafting Table
Place down a crafting table and open it. You’ll see a 3×3 grid.
Step 2: Place Items in the Correct Pattern
This is important. Place the furnace in the first box of the top row and the minecart in the second box of the top row. The bottom two rows stay empty.
The pattern looks like this:
- Top row: Furnace, Minecart, (empty)
- Middle row: (empty), (empty), (empty)
- Bottom row: (empty), (empty), (empty)
Step 3: Move to Your Inventory
Click the minecart with furnace that appears on the right and drag it to your inventory. Done.
Where to Find It in Creative Mode
If you’re playing in Creative mode, you can grab it from the inventory menu instead of crafting it:
| Minecraft Version | Location in Creative Menu |
|---|---|
| Java Edition 1.8 – 1.19 | Transportation |
| Java Edition 1.19.3 – 1.20 | Redstone Blocks or Tools & Utilities |
How to Use a Minecart with Furnace
Place the minecart on rails and add fuel (like coal or wood) to the furnace. The minecart will start moving on its own. It goes faster than a regular minecart and is great for building transport systems that move items or players automatically.
You can control the speed by adding more or less fuel. Multiple minecarts can be linked together for longer trains.
