A magenta burst firework rocket explodes into a starburst pattern in bright magenta. It takes three items to craft and the recipe hasn’t changed across versions. Good for celebrations, elytra boosting, or just setting off a show.
Required Materials
To craft a magenta burst firework rocket you need:
- 1 Paper
- 1 Gunpowder (or more, depending on flight duration)
- 1 Magenta Burst Firework Star
The firework star is what gives the rocket its burst shape and magenta color. You craft that separately before making the rocket itself.
How to Craft a Magenta Burst Firework Rocket
Step 1: Open the Crafting Table
Right-click a crafting table to open the 3×3 crafting grid.
Step 2: Place the Items in the Correct Pattern
In the crafting grid, place the items like this:
- Row 1: Paper in slot 1, Gunpowder in slot 2
- Row 2: Magenta Burst Firework Star in slot 1
- Everything else stays empty
The placement has to match exactly. If the firework rocket doesn’t appear in the output slot, double-check that the star and paper are in the right positions.
Hover over the finished rocket and you’ll see its flight duration, firework type, and color listed in the tooltip.
Step 3: Move It to Your Inventory
Click the firework rocket in the output slot and drag it into your inventory. That’s it.
Flight Duration
The number of gunpowder you use controls how high the rocket flies before it explodes:
- 1 gunpowder = flight duration 1 (low)
- 2 gunpowder = flight duration 2 (medium)
- 3 gunpowder = flight duration 3 (high)
For elytra use, flight duration 2 or 3 is usually the sweet spot. Duration 1 rockets burn out pretty fast.
Version Compatibility
Firework rockets have been in Minecraft since Java Edition 1.4.6. The crafting recipe works the same in Java and Bedrock. If you’re on a version older than 1.4.6, fireworks aren’t available at all.
Things to Do with Magenta Burst Firework Rockets
- Boost your Elytra flight by using the rocket while gliding
- Launch them from a crossbow to deal damage
- Set up a fireworks show with dispensers and redstone
Other Firework Types
Burst is just one of five firework shapes. You can also craft rockets using these firework star types:
- Small Ball – the default round explosion
- Large Ball – bigger version of the small ball
- Star-Shaped – explodes in a star pattern
- Creeper-Shaped – forms a creeper face shape
All of these come in every dye color, so there’s a lot of combinations to work with if you’re building a show.
