Lingering Potion of Turtle Master 1.20 – Craft Guide

Learn how to craft the Lingering Potion of Turtle Master in Minecraft 1.13-1.20. Complete brewing guide with materials and step-by-step instructions.

How to Craft a Lingering Potion of the Turtle Master in Minecraft

The Lingering Potion of the Turtle Master is one of the most useful defensive potions in Minecraft. When thrown, it creates a cloud of effects that gives nearby mobs and players Slowness IV and Resistance III for 10 seconds. The slowness cuts movement speed by 60%, while the resistance reduces damage taken. It’s perfect for protecting yourself or slowing down mobs in tight spots.

You can also use this potion to craft tipped arrows, making it even more versatile for combat situations.

Where to Find the Potion in Creative Mode

Java Edition (PC/Mac)

The location changed between versions:

Versions Creative Menu Location
1.13 – 1.19 Brewing
1.19.3 – 1.20 Food & Drinks

What You Need to Brew This Potion

You only need two items to make this lingering potion:

  • 1 Splash Potion of the Turtle Master (0:30 – Slowness IV, Resistance III)
  • 1 Dragon’s Breath

The splash potion is the base, and the dragon’s breath converts it to lingering form. If you don’t have the splash potion yet, you’ll need to brew that first using a Turtle Master potion.

How to Brew It in Survival

Step 1: Set Up Your Brewing Stand

Open your brewing stand. You’ll see the menu with a fuel slot on the left, an ingredient slot on top, and three potion slots at the bottom.

Step 2: Add Blaze Powder

Put blaze powder in the fuel slot (far left) to activate the brewing stand. One powder can fuel multiple brewing cycles.

Step 3: Add the Splash Potion

Place your Splash Potion of the Turtle Master in one of the three bottom slots. You can brew up to three lingering potions at once if you have three splash potions.

Step 4: Add Dragon’s Breath

Put the dragon’s breath in the top ingredient slot. The brewing starts immediately.

Step 5: Wait for It to Finish

The brewing process takes about 40 seconds. You’ll hear a “glug glug glug” sound when it’s done, and the dragon’s breath will disappear. Your lingering potion is ready.

Hover over it in the brewing stand to confirm it says “Lingering Potion of the Turtle Master” with the duration and effects listed.

Using Your Lingering Potion

Once you have it, throw the potion to create a cloud of effects. Any player or mob that walks through the cloud gets hit with Slowness IV and Resistance III for 10 seconds. This combo is great for:

  • Slowing down pursuing mobs so you can escape
  • Defending a base or area
  • Fighting tough bosses by reducing their damage output
  • Creating tipped arrows for ranged combat

The potion effect lasts longer the longer mobs stay in the cloud, so it’s effective even against quick enemies.

Item ID and Give Command

In Java Edition 1.13 and newer, use this command to give yourself the potion:

/give @p lingering_potion{Potion:"minecraft:long_turtle_master"} 1

The item ID is lingering_potion and it has a stack limit of 1 bottle per slot.
