The mod isn't doing anything after I installed it. What's wrong?

The keybinds are unbound by default. Go to Options > Controls > Key Binds and search for the camera mod entries. Assign both keys and then try again.

Does free-look affect where my player moves or flies?

No. That's the whole point. Your player keeps facing whatever direction they were facing. The camera moves independently, so you can scout around without changing course.

Does this work with Fabric?

The available downloads are for Forge and NeoForge only. There is no Fabric version listed at this time.

Will this work alongside mods like Optifine or Sodium?

It generally works fine with most mods. Camera mods can occasionally conflict with shader or rendering mods, so if you run into visual glitches, that's the first thing to check.

Can I use free-look while in first person?

No. The free-look feature only works in the mod's third person perspective mode. You need to switch to that view first before the free-look keybind does anything.

Vanilla Minecraft gives you three camera angles, and all three have the same problem: looking anywhere means turning your character. That’s annoying on the ground and actually causes issues when flying with an elytra, since glancing down sends you into a nosedive. Giacomo’s Enhanced Camera Mod adds free-look so you can check your surroundings without moving at all.

What This Mod Adds

Two new camera features, both tied to keybinds you set yourself. The keybinds are unbound by default, so the first thing you’ll do after installing is head into Controls and assign them.

Free-Look Mode

Hold the free-look key while in third person and you can rotate the camera in any direction. Your player stays facing the same way the whole time. No accidental turns, no direction changes mid-flight. Useful for elytra flying, PvP awareness, building, really anything where you want to see around you without committing to a direction.

Wider Third Person FOV

The second feature bumps up the field of view in third person mode. More of the world visible at once, less tunnel vision. Simple, but it makes a noticeable difference when exploring or fighting.
