Foundry is a mod about working with liquid metals. Melt down ore, ingots, and other metal items into liquid form, mix alloys, and cast them back into tools, armor, blocks, and more. It’s a complete metalworking system with multiple machines, each doing its own job.
What Does Foundry Add?
Liquid Metals
Foundry supports a ton of metals: Iron, Gold, Copper, Tin, Bronze, Electrum, Invar, Nickel, Zinc, Brass, Silver, Steel, and Lead. You can melt down ore, ingots, dusts, and blocks from Minecraft or other mods. The mod also works with modded tools, armor, gears, plates, and more.
New Machines
Induction Crucible Furnace: This is where the magic starts. Feed it metal items and power, and it’ll melt them down into liquid metal. The hotter it gets, the faster it melts. You extract the liquid using containers or fluid pipes.
Metal Caster: Takes liquid metal and uses molds to cast it into items or blocks. Make metal ingots, blocks, stairs, slabs, gears, armor, tools, and cable casings. You craft molds from a blank mold and a template item, then harden the mold in a furnace.
Alloy Mixer: Combines two liquid metals to make alloys. Mix copper and tin for bronze, copper and zinc for brass, iron and nickel for invar, or gold and silver for electrum.
Metal Infuser: Adds non-metal substances to liquid metals. Currently used to add carbon to iron for making steel.
Refractory Fluid Container
Like a bucket, but better. Holds up to 1000 mB of liquid and can be partially filled. Right-click a tank to drain or fill it. Right-click the ground to place or pick up fluids. Works with any fluid block or tile entity.
Metal Blocks and Variants
Foundry adds decorative metal blocks for all its metals, plus slabs and stairs. Cast them in the Metal Caster for various shapes.
Mod Compatibility
Foundry plays nice with Buildcraft, IC2, Forestry, Railcraft, Thermal Expansion, Redstone Arsenal, Gregtech, and Tinker’s Construct. It pulls recipes from these mods and lets you process their items too.
