How do I use the 3x3 mining feature?

Crouch (press sneak) while mining a block and the excavator will break a 3x3 area around it. Mine normally without crouching to break single blocks.

Can I use excavators in creative mode?

Yes, excavators work the same in creative and survival modes. You can craft them or get them from the creative inventory.

Do I need experimental features on?

Yes, turn on Experimental Games in your world settings for this addon to work properly.

Which excavator lasts the longest?

Netherite Excavator has 2031 durability, making it the best for long mining sessions. Diamond is second with 1561 durability.

What can excavators mine?

Excavators work on any block that regular shovels can mine, like dirt, grass, sand, snow, and gravel.

Bored with mining one block at a time? Excavators Addon gives you 9 new shovels that clear 3×3 areas instantly. Mine grass, dirt, and sand way faster than vanilla tools. If you play survival and spend half your time digging, this addon is for you.

What You Get

The addon adds 9 excavator shovels, one for each material tier: wooden, stone, copper, iron, gold, emerald, diamond, amethyst, and netherite. Each one has its own durability and mining speed, so higher tier tools last longer and work faster.

How Excavators Work

Use excavators two different ways. Tap normally to mine single blocks like a regular shovel. Want the 3×3 effect? Crouch (sneak) before breaking a block, and it’ll clear the 3×3 area around your crosshairs. Perfect for clearing large areas of dirt or grass.

When you use normal mode, you can only mine blocks that shovel would normally break. The 3×3 function respects this too.

Wooden Excavator: 59 durability
Stone Excavator: 131 durability
Copper Excavator: 276 durability
Iron Excavator: 250 durability
Gold Excavator: 32 durability
Emerald Excavator: 306 durability
Amethyst Excavator: 356 durability
Diamond Excavator: 1561 durability
Netherite Excavator: 2031 durability

Gold is weak but fast, while netherite lasts forever. Stone and iron are in between.

How to Craft Them

All excavators use the same recipe as regular shovels. Grab the material you want (wood, stone, copper, etc.), stick it on the crafting table, and you’re done. You’ll craft them exactly like vanilla shovels.

Installation

Download the .mcpack files below. On mobile, tap the file to import into Minecraft. On Windows 10, double-click the file. Once imported, create a new world, go to world settings, and enable the behavior and resource packs.

Important: Make sure Experimental Games is turned on in your world settings. Some features need this toggle enabled.
