Ex Nihilo 2 is a Forge mod that completely changes how you play Skyblock. Instead of vanilla mechanics, you get a new progression system with unique items, crafting chains, and survival mechanics. It transforms Skyblock from a basic grind into a rewarding challenge where every step forward feels earned.
What Ex Nihilo 2 Adds
The mod introduces new tools and blocks that let you break down basic materials into components. A crook breaks leaves more efficiently. Sieves filter dirt for tiny stones. A hammer breaks rocks into smaller pieces. These items form the backbone of early-game progression.
Later on you’ll craft crucibles, barrels, and mills. You can compost leaves for dirt, sift gravel for valuable ore dusts, and use witchwater to transform blocks in ways vanilla Minecraft can’t. The mod guides you through four major chapters, each with new mechanics to unlock.
Progression in Four Chapters
Chapter 1: Wood and Tools
You start with a tree and some dirt. Make a crook to harvest more saplings from leaves. Build a sieve and barrel to progress beyond basic wood crafting. Eventually craft a crucible so you can generate cobblestone and lava.
Chapter 2: Stone and Metal
Now that you have a cobblestone generator, you can build up stone materials. Sift gravel to find rust, then smelt it for iron. Set up farms with crops you get from mobs or fishing. Make your way to the Nether and prepare to survive the next challenge.
Chapter 3: The Nether
Build away from your portal and control mob spawning carefully. Fight Ghasts and gather their tears and gold. Use these materials to create witchwater, mycelium, and access to new plant-based resources that weren’t available before.
Chapter 4: Transmutation
Cure a zombie villager to trade with them. Use their emeralds and witchwater to unlock the final tier of crafting. Transform emeralds into diamonds through a complex process involving black slime and TNT.
How to Install
- Download and install Minecraft Forge
- Download the Ex Nihilo 2 mod
- Open your .minecraft folder
- Go to the mods folder (create it if it doesn’t exist)
- Drag the mod jar file into the mods folder
- Launch Minecraft with the Forge profile
Compatibility
Ex Nihilo 2 works with most other mods. Check the mod description for any known conflicts. The mod is designed for Skyblock maps but works on regular worlds too.
