Engineer’s Tools Mod adds a set of practical handheld tools designed to work with Immersive Engineering. If you like manual tools that reward proper maintenance, this mod has some solid options.
Features
REDIA Tool
The main draw here. It’s a multi-tool that combines pickaxe, axe, shovel, and shears into one item. Builds like a diamond tool and performs around Efficiency III when in good shape. But here’s the catch: durability matters. As it breaks down, the tool gets slower and mines less efficiently. That’s intentional. Keep it repaired with diamonds and you’ll stay efficient. Let it degrade and you’ll feel the difference.
Fortune works the same way. Fully repaired gives you Fortune III level drops. Broken down tool? Fortune drops too. The curves are configurable if you want to adjust how much durability actually matters.
You can put Unbreaking on it, but Mending isn’t allowed. This is a mod about actually maintaining your tools, not just letting an enchantment fix everything.
Right-click stuff with it and you’ll place torches. Sneak-right-click dirt and it cycles through dirt, farmland, coarse dirt, and grass paths. Use it on leaves, vines, grass, and sheep when sneaking to shear them. Sneak while chopping wood logs and it’ll fell entire trees for you, though that costs more durability.
Ariadne Coal
A coal-based pen that marks arrows on cave walls, floors, and ceilings so you can find your way back out. Craft it like an Engineer’s Hammer and you’re good to go.
Ore Crushing Hammer
Early game solution for turning ore into grit, same concept as the IE ore crusher. Craft it with an iron block instead of one of the ingots. Low durability item that’ll process about 64 stacks before breaking. Not repairable, so either make a new one or get an actual ore crusher machine set up.
Requirements
You’ll need Minecraft Forge and Immersive Engineering installed. Both are required dependencies.
Installation
Install Forge for your Minecraft version, download the mod jar, and drop it in your mods folder (.minecraft/mods). For detailed steps, check out our Forge mod installation guide or Fabric mod guide if you’re using Fabric instead.
