Embeddium Plus is a performance mod that works with Embeddium (Forge Sodium) to fix lag and boost FPS in modded Minecraft. If you’re running a heavy modpack and getting random stutters, this mod cuts through the clutter and actually works. It’s packed with practical features that make a real difference.
What Embeddium Plus Does
Performance Fixes
This mod patches multiple issues that slow down Sodium and Forge itself. It includes a fix for random lag spikes in packed modpacks, and it fixes a Forge bug that was tanking Sodium’s chunk loading speeds. If you’ve felt your FPS tank for no reason, this catches that stuff.
Better FPS Counter
The default FPS counter is pretty basic. This gives you a nicer looking counter that can show minimum frame times (good for finding tick lag) and average frame times over 15 seconds (useful if you’re actually benchmarking performance).
Borderless Fullscreen
Minecraft’s fullscreen makes alt-tabbing annoying. This replaces the vanilla Sodium fullscreen option with borderless mode, which is off by default but way better if you’re bouncing between windows.
True Darkness
Night time and caves are bright as day in vanilla. This adds options to make them actually dark. You can tweak it or turn it off if it’s not your thing.
Entity Culling
In heavy modpacks, FPS tanked because you’re rendering mobs miles away. Entity culling stops rendering far-off entities and can be set to different heights, so cave mobs don’t render when you’re on the surface. Huge FPS boost. (Note: doesn’t work with Out Of Sight, which does the same thing.)
Chunk Fade In
A port from Fabric’s “Fade In Chunks”, this applies a fade effect when chunks load, cutting down the pop-in effect. Helps when you spawn, switch worlds, or fly around. You can configure it or disable it.
Fog Toggle
Vanilla Sodium doesn’t let you turn off fog. This mod adds that option.
Configurable Cloud Height
Vanilla clouds are low by default. This raises them up a bit, and there’s no other Forge mod that does it.
Works With Magnesium/Rubidium Dynamic Lights
If you’re using Magnesium or Rubidium Dynamic Lights, Embeddium Plus works perfectly with it and actually makes it run better.
