Effect Timer Plus adds a countdown timer and potency indicator directly to your status effect icons. No more guessing how long your Speed II has left or watching a blank icon hoping your Regeneration hasn’t expired. All your buff info is visible right in the HUD where it belongs.
Vanilla Minecraft’s effect display is barebones. You get an icon, maybe a Roman numeral, and nothing else. This mod fixes that without cluttering your screen. It’s one of those small quality-of-life installs that you won’t want to play without once you’ve tried it.
Features
- Countdown timer overlay on every active status effect icon
- Potency indicator showing the effect level (II, III, etc.)
- Adjustable text color and opacity
- Optional text shadow or background for better readability
- Multiple text position options within the icon
- Low-time warning: timer can change color and flash when an effect is about to expire
- Scaling options for both icons and text size
- Option to hide timers on ambient effects like Beacon buffs or Conduit Power
Configuration
All settings are handled through Yet Another Config Lib, which gives you an in-game config screen. You can get to it through your mod list. Text size, warning thresholds, colors, positioning, all of it is in there. No manual config file editing needed.

You also need Yet Another Config Lib as a required dependency. Drop it in your mods folder alongside Effect Timer Plus.
How to Install
- Pick your mod loader and install it for your Minecraft version: Forge, Fabric, Quilt, or NeoForge.
- Download Yet Another Config Lib matching your Minecraft version and mod loader.
- Download the Effect Timer Plus jar for your version from the links below.
- Put both jar files in your
.minecraft/modsfolder. - Launch Minecraft. The timers will show up automatically.
