Does By Design Mod work with OptiFine or Sodium?

By Design is a Fabric mod and works with Sodium. OptiFine is a Forge mod and not compatible. If you want performance improvements alongside this mod, use Sodium with Fabric instead.

Will this mod affect performance?

The 3D models are simple and the performance impact is negligible. You won't notice any slowdown from this mod.

Do other players see the 3D arrows too?

In-world arrows stuck in blocks or mobs are visible to everyone on the server. The bow and crossbow item models are client-side, so other players only see the new look if they also have the mod installed.

Does By Design Mod work with other weapon or combat mods?

It should work fine alongside most combat mods since it only changes the visual models for vanilla arrows, fireworks, bows, and crossbows. Mods that add entirely new projectile types won't get the 3D treatment unless they have specific support.

Is there a Forge version of By Design Mod?

No, By Design is Fabric only. There is no Forge version available for 1.18.2 or 1.19.2.

By Design Mod (1.19.2, 1.18.2) - 3D Arrows & Bows

By Design is a Fabric mod that gives arrows and firework rockets proper 3D models instead of the flat sprites Minecraft ships with. The bow and crossbow get updated too, so the loaded projectile actually looks like it belongs on the weapon.

It’s a small visual change but once you see 3D arrows sticking out of things in-world, the vanilla flat ones look kind of wrong. This one’s worth it if you care about how ranged combat looks.

What By Design Changes

3D Arrows

Regular arrows and spectral arrows both get full 3D models. This applies both while drawing your bow and when arrows are stuck in the ground or a mob. New arrow textures are included to go along with the new shape.

3D Firework Rockets

Firework rockets loaded in a crossbow show up as a 3D model instead of a flat sprite. The rocket also gets a new texture that actually looks like a firework. In-world rockets match too.

Updated Bow and Crossbow Models

The bow and crossbow are remodeled to show 3D projectiles when drawn or loaded. A crossbow loaded with a spectral arrow looks different from one loaded with a regular arrow or a firework, so you can actually tell what you have at a glance.

How to Install By Design Mod

Install Fabric Modloader for your Minecraft version.
Download Fabric API and drop it in your mods folder.
Download By Design from the links below for your version.
Place the .jar file in your .minecraft/mods folder.
Launch Minecraft using the Fabric profile and you’re good to go.
