Bubble Coral Block Wiki Guide

This Minecraft tutorial explains how to craft a purple coral block called a Bubble Coral Block with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.

In Minecraft, a bubble coral block is an item that you can not make with a crafting table or furnace. Instead, you need to find and gather this item in the game. Gathering bubble coral blocks is a bit tricky in Minecraft because you need to mine it with a pickaxe that is enchanted with Silk Touch.

Let’s explore how to add a bubble coral block to your inventory.

Where to find a Bubble Coral Block in Creative Mode

Minecraft Java Edition (PC/Mac)

Here is where you can find a bubble coral block in the Creative Inventory menu:

Platform Version(s) Creative Menu Location
Java Edition (PC/Mac) 1.13 – 1.19
Java Edition (PC/Mac) 1.19.3 – 1.19.4
  • Platform is the platform that applies.
  • Version(s) is the Minecraft version numbers where the item can be found in the menu location listed (we have tested and confirmed this version number).
  • Creative Menu Location is the location of the item in the Creative Inventory menu.

How to get a Bubble Coral Block in Survival Mode

You can add a bubble coral block to your inventory in Survival mode by finding them growing in a Warm Ocean biome and mining them with a pickaxe with Silk Touch. So, let’s get started!

1. Find a Bubble Coral Block

First, you need to find a bubble coral block in your Minecraft world. A bubble coral block is a purple coral that is usually found growing underwater in a Coral Reef in the Warm Ocean biome.

2. Hold a Pickaxe with Silk Touch

To mine a bubble coral block, you need to dig up the bubble coral block with a pickaxe with Silk Touch. These are the pickaxes you can choose from.

If you try to mine the bubble coral block with your hand or other tool (that is not a pickaxe), the small block of bubble coral will not appear. And you will not be able to add the bubble coral block to your inventory.

In this example, we are going to use a diamond pickaxe that is enchanted with Silk Touch.

3. Mine the Bubble Coral Block

The game control to mine the bubble coral block depends on the version of Minecraft:

  • For Java Edition (PC/Mac), left click and hold on the bubble coral block.
  • For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap and hold on the bubble coral block.
  • For Xbox 360 and Xbox One, press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
  • For PS3 and PS4, press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
  • For Wii U, press and hold the ZR button on the gamepad.
  • For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZR button on the controller.
  • For Windows 10 Edition, left click and hold on the bubble coral block.
  • For Education Edition, left click and hold on the bubble coral block.

You will need to continue to mine until the bubble coral block breaks and a smaller bubble coral block appears floating in the water. If you wait too long, the bubble coral block will float to the top of the water.

TIP: Normally when you mine a bubble coral block, you will get a dead bubble coral block. However, when you mine the bubble coral block using a pickaxe enchanted with Silk Touch, you will get the living bubble coral block itself as a drop.

4. Pick up the Bubble Coral Block

Make sure you pick up the bubble coral block before it disappears.

Once you pick up the bubble coral block, it will appear in your hotbar.

A bubble coral block is a useful item and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.
