What is Black Concrete?
Black concrete is a solid building block in Minecraft that comes in the dark gray color. It’s one of the 16 colored concrete blocks you can make. You can’t craft it at a crafting table, but making it is super simple once you know the trick.
What You Need
To make black concrete, grab these two things:
- 1 Water Bucket
- 1 Block of Black Concrete Powder
That’s it. No crafting table needed.
How to Make Black Concrete
Step 1: Place the Black Concrete Powder
Put down a block of black concrete powder anywhere in your world. This is the base material.
Step 2: Pour Water on It
Grab your water bucket and use it on the concrete powder. The water turns the powder into solid concrete instantly.
Controls:
- Java Edition: Right-click with the water bucket
- Bedrock/PE: Tap the block with the water bucket
- Xbox: Press LT
- PlayStation: Press L2
- Nintendo Switch: Press ZL
Step 3: Collect Your Water
Pick your water back up by right-clicking (or tapping) on the water block. Now you have black concrete and a full water bucket again. Done.

Quick Tips
- Only the concrete powder blocks that touch the water will turn into concrete. Powder blocks next to it stay as powder unless water reaches them too.
- Black concrete is solid and won’t turn back into powder. You’re safe to build with it.
- Stack size is 64, so you can carry a lot at once.
- This works the same way for all 16 colored concrete blocks. Red concrete, blue concrete, etc. all use the same water trick.
