How do I upgrade my Bag of Yurting?

Can I use this mod on a multiplayer server?

Yes, it works on multiplayer servers. Admins can configure permissions in the server config. Creative mode players and ops with permission level 2+ bypass restrictions.

What happens if something is blocking the space when I unload a bag?

The unload will fail and the bag keeps its contents safe inside. You'll need to clear space first, then try placing the yurt again.

Does the bag save the contents of chests and furnaces?

Yes. All block data is preserved, including what's inside containers. When you place the yurt back down, everything will be exactly as you left it.

Can I dye my bags different colors?

Absolutely. Use a crafting table with the bag and any dye color, just like dyeing leather armor. This helps you remember which yurt is stored in which bag.

What Does It Do

The Bag of Yurting works like a portable container for your yurt buildings. Use it on a block to save all the blocks around it into the bag. Use it again to place those blocks back down. Everything stored stays intact, including the contents of chests, furnaces, and other block data.

How It Works

Point the bag at a block and use it. The bag will save all blocks in a cube centered on that spot. The bigger the bag, the larger the cube. A basic bag saves an 11x11x11 area. Upgrade it to save bigger areas.

When you place the bag down again, it puts everything back exactly where it was. If something blocks the placement, the unload fails and the bag keeps its contents safe.

Crafting and Customization

Basic Crafting

You’ll need an ender pearl and other materials to make the basic bag. This makes sense since it’s bigger on the inside than the outside.

Upgrading Your Bag

To make a bigger bag, place four bags of yurting together at a crafting table. The new bag will be one size larger. You can keep upgrading as many times as you want.

Dyeing Your Bags

Just like leather armor, you can dye bags in different colors. Use a crafting table with the bag and any dye color. Helpful for remembering which yurt is stored where.

For exact recipes, install Just Enough Items (Forge) or Roughly Enough Items (Fabric) to see them in game.

Technical Details

For server admins and modders:

Bag size and color are stored as NBT data. Size uses the “radius” key.
Command to spawn a custom bag: /give PlayerName bagofyurting:bag_of_yurting{radius:5}
A radius of 5 creates an 11x11x11 area. Radius formula is (2 * radius) + 1 for the diameter.
Three block tags control what gets stored: blacklist, whitelist, and replaceable. Admins can modify these in config.
Players in creative mode or with permission level 2+ bypass all restrictions.
Other mods can prevent storing or unloading by cancelling BlockEvent.BreakEvent or BlockEvent.EntityMultiPlaceEvent.

Installation

What You Need

You need Minecraft Forge installed for your version. Fabric support may be available for newer versions.

Steps

Download the mod file for your Minecraft version.
Open your Minecraft folder (.minecraft on Windows/Mac, .minecraft on Linux).
Paste the mod file into the mods folder. Create it if it doesn’t exist.
Launch Minecraft with the Forge profile.
