The Warden is a new mob that was introduced in the Wild Update. The following is a picture of what the Warden looks like in Minecraft:

Hostility Level (Hostile)

The Warden is a hostile mob. The term mob is short for mobile and is used to refer to all living, moving creatures in the game such as chickens, creepers, and the warden. Because the Warden is a hostile mob, it will attack you in Survival mode but not Creative mode.

Health Points

In Minecraft, the Warden has 250 hearts Warden Mob - Wiki Guide 4

for health. This gives the Warden 500 health points (because 1 heart = 2 health points). To kill the warden, you need to inflict 500 points of damage to the warden.

Where to Find the Warden

In Minecraft, the Warden is found in the Deep Dark biome and is awakened by sculk shriekers.

Warden Mob - Wiki Guide 5

When a sculk shrieker is activated three times with a light level of 11 or lower (and another Warden is not within 48 blocks), the Warden will spawn and dig up out of the ground. After spawning, however, if the Warden is calm and has not sensed any vibrations for 60 seconds, it will immediately dig back into the ground and despawn again.

If you are having trouble finding the warden, you can summon the warden using a cheat or you can use a spawn egg.

Weapon

The Warden does not carry a weapon.

Attack Method

In Minecraft, the Warden has 2 attack methods – melee attack and ranged attack.

  1. Melee Attack: The Warden will sense a player or mob through vibrations (or sense of smell when vibrations aren’t enough). The souls in the chest of the Warden light up and throb creating a heartbeat animation and sound that is in sync with the Darkness effect. The more vibrations the Warden detects, the more angry it will get. As the Warden becomes more angry, the speed of the heartbeat increases along with the heartbeat sound. Once the Warden reaches a certain level of anger, it will start its melee attack by roaring and charging towards the target causing damage.
  2. Ranged Attack: If you build up high, hide behind walls, or are out of range of a warden’s powerful melee attack, it will cause the Warden to switch to its ranged attack. When this happens, the warden’s rib cage will open up to shriek a sonically charged range attack that can penetrate walls.

Behavior

The Warden has the following behavior in Minecraft:

  1. The Warden is blind and can not see anything, so it uses vibrations to navigate and identify targets (also known as suspects). If vibrations are not enough, the Warden uses its sense of smell to track down its targets. You will notice them sniffing their surroundings to get closer to potential targets.
  2. When the Warden senses a vibration, it moves towards the source of the vibration. The more vibrations that the Warden senses, the more angry it gets.
  4. The Warden does not track down the closest target, but rather the one that angers it the most.
  5. When the Warden reaches a certain level of anger, it will start its melee attack by roaring and charging towards the target causing damage.
  6. If an entity attacks the warden, the Warden will immediately enter its anger state.
  7. The Warden will not only attack players, but it will also target and attack other mobs (but it does not attack other wardens).
  8. The Warden disables a shield when it hits one with its fists.
  9. The Warden has special interactions with thrown projectiles. If the Warden receives two projectile vibrations within 5 seconds of one another, it will grow angrier at the shooter. If the Warden receives a projectile vibration more than 5 seconds from the last projectile, it will not grow angrier at the shooter. This allows you to strategically distract the Warden without it getting angry while you take loot from nearby chests.
  10. If you build up high, hide behind walls, or are out of range of a warden’s powerful melee attack, it will cause the Warden to switch to its ranged attack. When this happens, the warden’s rib cage will open up to shriek a sonically charged range attack that can penetrate walls.
  11. The Warden is immune to damage from fire and lava.
  12. If the Warden is calm and has not sensed any vibrations for 60 seconds, it will immediately dig into the ground and despawn.
  13. The Warden gets angry at ALL living mobs that bump into it, not just players

Drops

When you kill the Warden in Minecraft, it will drop a Sculk Catalyst.

Make sure you pick up any dropped items before they disappear. They are useful and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.

Experience Points

As you play the game, you will gain experience. The most common way to gain experience is by killing mobs. When a mob is killed you will see tiny green and yellow balls appear and move towards you.

These orbs represent experience points. When you kill the warden, you will gain 5 experience points.
