Trident Enchantments in Minecraft
Tridents are one of the best weapons in Minecraft, and enchanting them makes them way more useful. This guide covers every trident enchantment available in Minecraft Java Edition with IDs, max levels, and what each one does.
All Trident Enchantments
Below is the complete list of enchantments you can put on a trident. You can use these with the /enchant command or find them on naturally spawned tridents.

What the Columns Mean
- Enchantment is the name you’ll see in-game, with the ID name in parentheses that you use in /enchant commands
- Max Level is how many levels high you can take that enchantment
- Description explains what the enchantment actually does
- Minecraft ID is the number associated with the enchantment
- Version shows which Minecraft version added the enchantment
How to Enchant Your Trident
Hold the trident and use the /enchant command to add an enchantment. Here’s an example:
/enchant @s riptide 3
This enchants your trident with Riptide level 3. When you throw it in rain or water, you’ll zoom forward. It’s one of the most fun enchantments to use.
Important: Loyalty and Riptide Don’t Mix
You can’t have both Loyalty and Riptide on the same trident. These enchantments conflict with each other, so Minecraft won’t let you combine them. Pick one or the other depending on your playstyle.
Best Enchantment Combos
Loyalty is the must-have if you’re throwing your trident frequently. Channeling is fun in storms for calling lightning. Unbreaking and Mending keep your trident from breaking. Impaling is great if you fight underwater mobs often.
Version Compatibility
Most trident enchantments were added in version 1.13 (Aquatic Update). Mending came earlier in 1.9. If you’re on an older version, you might not have access to all of these.
