How to get Spruce Leaves in Survival Mode

You can add spruce leaves to your inventory in Survival mode by trimming the leaves from a spruce tree with a pair of shears. So, let’s get started!

1. Find a Spruce Tree

First, you need to find a spruce tree in your Minecraft world. Spruce trees are usually found in the Taiga or Old Growth Pine Taiga biomes.

2. Hold your Shears

Next, place your shears in your hand by selecting them in the hotbar.

Position your pointer (the plus sign) on the spruce leaves of the tree. You should see the block of spruce leaves become highlighted in your game window.

3. Use your Shears

Next, use the shears on the spruce leaves to cut them from the spruce tree.

The game control to use the shears on the spruce leaves depends on the version of Minecraft:

  • For Java Edition (PC/Mac), left click and hold on the spruce leaves.
  • For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap and hold on the spruce leaves.
  • For Xbox 360 and Xbox One, press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
  • For PS3 and PS4, press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
  • For Wii U, press and hold the ZR button on the gamepad.
  • For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZR button on the controller.
  • For Windows 10 Edition, left click and hold on the spruce leaves.
  • For Education Edition, left click and hold on the spruce leaves.

You will need to continue to clip with the shears until the spruce leaves fall from the tree.

4. Pick up the Spruce Leaves

Make sure you pick up the spruce leaves before they disappear.
