Shield Expansion Mod
Shield Expansion Mod (1.20.1, 1.19.4) is a modification that seeks to rebalance shields in order to make fighting in Minecraft more interesting and demanding of player ability. This mod not only adds typical layers to shields, but it also adds two new gameplay mechanics: parrying and off-guard cooldown. Each assault that strikes a shield will put it into a state of cooldown, compelling you to either go on the offensive or make greater use of defensive tactics. Off-Guard Cooldown implies that any attack that hits a shield will put it into a state of cooldown. If you reduce the shield’s health, then you will also trigger this cooldown. You can avoid the Off-Guard Cooldown if you parry an attack, which is done by raising your shield just before an attack strikes you. This is a reward for timing your movements well and making effective use of your shield. When you successfully parry an assault, not only do you push back melee opponents, but you also deflect opposing missiles.
