Loom Wiki Guide
This Minecraft tutorial explains how to craft a loom with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.
In Minecraft, the loom is another important item in your inventory. A loom is a new type of crafting table that allows you to take a banner, a dye and a banner pattern and weave them together to create amazing new banners. The loom makes it easy to create fancy banners with lots of different patterns to choose from.
Let’s explore how to make a loom.

How to craft a Loom in Survival Mode
1. Open the Crafting Menu
First, open your crafting table so that you have the 3×3 crafting grid that looks like this:
2. Add Items to make a Loom
In the crafting menu, you should see a crafting area that is made up of a 3×3 crafting grid. To make a loom, place 2 string and 2 wood planks in the 3×3 crafting grid.
When crafting with wood planks, you can use any kind of wood planks, such as oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, bamboo, crimson, or warped planks. In our example, we are using oak planks.
When making a loom, it is important that the string and wood planks are placed in the exact pattern as the image below. In the first row, there should be 1 string in the first box and 1 string in the second box. In the second row, there should be 1 wood planks in the first box and 1 wood planks in the second box. This is the Minecraft crafting recipe for a loom.
Now that you have filled the crafting area with the correct pattern, the loom will appear in the box to the right.
3. Move the Loom to Inventory
Once you have crafted a loom, you need to move the new item to your inventory.
Congratulations, you have made a loom in Minecraft!
