Honeycomb Wiki Guide

This Minecraft tutorial explains how to craft a honeycomb with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.

In Minecraft, a honeycomb is an item that you can not make with a crafting table or furnace. Instead, you need to find and gather this item in the game.

Honeycomb - Wiki Guide 1

Let’s explore how to add a honeycomb to your inventory.

Where to find a Honeycomb in Creative Mode

Minecraft Java Edition (PC/Mac)

Here is where you can find a honeycomb in the Creative Inventory menu:

Platform Version(s) Creative Menu Location
Java Edition (PC/Mac) 1.15 – 1.19
Java Edition (PC/Mac) 1.19.3
  • Platform is the platform that applies.
  • Version(s) is the Minecraft version numbers where the item can be found in the menu location listed (we have tested and confirmed this version number).
  • Creative Menu Location is the location of the item in the Creative Inventory menu.

How to get a Honeycomb in Survival Mode

You can add a honeycomb to your inventory in Survival mode by finding a bee nest filled with honey and gathering the honeycombs from it. So, let’s get started!

1. Find a Bee Nest

First, you need to find a bee nest in your Minecraft world. A bee nest is usually found in the Plains, Flower Forest or Sunflower Plains biomes.

The bee nest will either be hanging from an oak tree or a birch tree:

2. Hold your Shears

Next, place your shears in your hand by selecting them in the hotbar.

3. Use the Shears

As the bees (carrying pollen) enter the bee nest, the honey level of the bee nest will increase. Once the bee nest is full of honey, you will see the honey dripping from the holes. Now it is time to use the shears to gather the honeycombs from the bee nest.

Honeycomb - Wiki Guide 11

The game control to use the shears depends on the version of Minecraft:

  • For Java Edition (PC/Mac), left click and hold on the bee nest.
  • For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap and hold on the bee nest.
  • For Xbox One, press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
  • For PS4, press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
  • For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZR button on the controller.
  • For Windows 10 Edition, left click and hold on the bee nest.
  • For Education Edition, left click and hold on the bee nest.

Honeycomb - Wiki Guide 12

There will be 3 honeycombs that come out of the bee nest.
TIP: When you use the shears to gather the honeycombs, you will anger one of the bees and it will attack and sting you (giving you the Poison effect).

3. Pick up the Honeycomb

Make sure you pick up the honeycombs before they disappears.

Honeycomb - Wiki Guide 13

Once you pick up the honeycombs, they will appear in your hotbar.

Honeycomb - Wiki Guide 14

Honeycombs are useful items and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.
