Harry Potter Mod
Harry Potter Mod 1.12.2, 1.12 brings the magical universe of the Harry Potter series to Minecraft. It places the player in a world full of spells, curses and dark creatures, and much much more.
Features:
Brewing:
- Cauldron: The cauldron is a bucket-like structure with legs that allows for a fire to be lit underneath of it so that various liquids can be brewed within.
- Brewing Ingredients:
- Gillyweed: A magical plant that grows in swamps, it is relatively common and has strong magical properties. When eaten, the plant gives the person who consumed it increased abilities to navigate underwater environments by causing them to grow gills and webbing between their fingers and toes. However the plant must be consumed underwater to have its desired effect. The plant can be added to boiling water in a cauldron to make Gillywater potion.
- Mandrake Root: The Mandrake Root is from the Mandrake Plant and is used in various Brewing Recipes. It is high in protective energies, therefore it is used in many defensive potions.
- Fire Serpent Fang: The fire serpent fang is obtained by killing a Fire Serpent, the fangs of the Fire Serpent are highly sought after and are rare in the witch and wizarding world. Part of the reason that they are so highly valued is because they are the major brewing ingredient for the Fire Tonic potion.
- Fire Seeds: Fire Seeds are the seeds that grow on the end of Fire Grass when it is fully matured. They are the part of the magical plant that causes entities that brush against them to be set on fire as they contain a high amount of magical energy in the form of fire. Due to their high amount of magic, they are commonly used in Brewing Recipes, but mainly as a base ingredient for beneficial potions as when added alone to water produce the undesirable Fire Seed Infusion potion. Fire Seeds have a one in four chance of dropping when the Fire Grass plant is harvested.
- Boomslang Skin: Boomslang skin is the scaly outer skin of the Boomslang Snake, it is dropped when the serpent is killed, or alternatively, the Boomslang Snake very rarely sheds its skin and drops a piece if its skin on the ground. (Three times more rare than chicken dropping egg.) Boomslang skin is widely known for its magical properties which earn it a common place in a lot of Brewing Recipes.
- Brewing Recipes:
- Fire Seed Infusion: Like the name suggests, fire seed infusion is a potion in which Fire Seeds are added to a Cauldron of boiling water to infuse. The resulting solution is a fiery liquid that is high in magical energy from the Fire Grass plant, however due to the lack of refinement and other potion ingredients to control this energy, the potion has an undesirable effect. When consumed, the person who is unlucky enough to drink it is set on fire for a period of 5 seconds.
- Fire Tonic: Fire Tonic is a potion that when consumed by an entity causes them to set fire to all entities within 7 blocks of them for a period of time. It is thought that the potion originated from the same mechanism by which the Fire Serpent sets alight unsuspecting prey, this is further supported by Fire Serpent Fang being a major ingredient in its brewing recipe.
- Potions:

- Gillywater: Gillywater is a herbal preparation in nature, where Gillyweed is added to water to ‘brew’ like a tea. The resulting solution is a blue-green translucent water like potion that harnesses the effects of Gillyweed and amplifies them so that the person consuming the potion has these effects for a longer period of time. Like Gillyweed, Gillywater allows the person who consumes it to navigate underwater environments with ease and style.
Plants:
- Mandrake Plant: A magical plant that is most commonly found in swamps, however can also be found in other areas with lots of trees such as forests. The plant is actually a living organism and when stepped on will squeal. When broken the upper portion of the plant that is exposed is disturbed and the underground living part of the plant is uprooted. The root of the plant (the living section), is known as a Mandrake, and when killed will drop a Mandrake Root which is used as an ingredient in potion brewing.
- Fire Grass: A magical plant that is very common in grassy areas including plains, forests, hills, and jungles. The plant got named appropriately when the first discoverer of the plant was engulfed in flames upon walking through it. Has a 1 in 4 chance of dropping Fire Seeds which are a common potion brewing ingredient.
Creatures:
- Fire Serpent: A magical creature that takes the primary form of a serpent that produces flames around its body. The fire serpent causes any entity that is within 4 blocks of it to be set on fire. It spawn primarily in the nether, however it can be known to spawn in very dry areas such as deserts but much less frequently. When killed, the fire serpent drops a Fire Serpent Fang which is a widely sought after potion brewing ingredient to brew the Fire Tonic potion.
- Dementor: A non-living magical creature that is widely feared and avoided in the magical community.
- Dementors only attack players when in a 10 block range, however, once targeted the dementor sucks the life out the player slowly and causes them to have the blindness and nausea potion effects for a period of time after the attack. Dementors are especially deterred by the Patronus Charm.
- Mandrake: The mandrake is a magical creature that forms part of the Mandrake Plant. It is normally found buried underground with its upper leafy part left above ground to imitate a plant. When uprooted, the mandrake lets out an ear-shrieking scream, when killed the mandrake drops a Mandrake Root which is a common brewing ingredient.
- Boomslang Snake: A magical creature that is common among the witch and wizarding world, it is fast moving and poisons the entity that it attacks for a short period of time. Boomslang snakes are commonly found in swamps and jungles where the lush greenery allows them to camouflage with their surroundings. When killed, the boomslang snake drops Boomslang Skin which is a common potion brewing ingredient.
- Death Eater: A death eater is a wizard that has lost their strength and turned evil. A death eater will target players especially but is also known to causes harm to some harmless animals out of spite. Death Eaters use their Wand to cast spells at their target the spells that they are known to use most are Expelliarmus, Sectumsempra, Wingardium Leviosa and Stupefy.

- Broomstick: The broomstick is enchanted with a spell that is arguably one of the oldest spells to date in the world of magic. It allows whoever is riding it to soar through the sky at rapid speeds. In game, a broomstick item can be right-clicked to allow the player to start flying. Once being ridden, the broom can be dismounted by pressing the Left-Shift button.
Literature:
- Book Of Spells: The Book Of Spells by Miranda Goshawk are a series of textbooks that come in several volumes, the books outline different spells that can be cast by trained witches and wizards. The spells in the several volumes of the book range from very basic to more intermediate spells and charms, and the books are intended for witches and wizards that are at an educational institution to learn magic.
