1. Open the Crafting Menu
First, open your crafting table so that you have the 3×3 crafting grid that looks like this:

In the crafting menu, you should see a crafting area that is made up of a 3×3 crafting grid. To make a diamond chestplate, place 8 diamonds in the 3×3 crafting grid.
When making a diamond chestplate, it is important that the diamonds are placed in the exact pattern as the image below. There should be 2 diamonds in the first row at either sides (the middle box should be left empty), 3 diamonds in the second row, and 3 diamonds in the third row.
