Compactsolars Mod

CompactSolars Mod 1.12.2, 1.11.2 expands upon the implementation of solar panels in IC2 by adding 3 new solar panel arrays, which function like multiple solar panels combined in one block. These arrays are both more compact and create less lag, which is useful on larger servers. It also provides a somewhat cheaper alternative to the Advanced Solar Panels mod, however CompactSolars panels do not have an internal energy buffer or the ability to generate energy in the nighttime.

Like Advanced Solar Panels, this mod also includes solar array helmets, which generate more power than a regular Solar Helmet.

The LV Solar Hat is a helmet from CompactSolars. It functions as an improved Solar Helmet. It can charge a worn BatPack or Electric Jetpack at 8 EU/tick when in the sun.

CompactSolars Mod 1.12.2, 1.11.2 (Compact Solar Arrays) 15

The MV Solar Hat is a helmet from CompactSolars. It functions as an improved Solar Helmet. It can charge a worn BatPack, Lappack, Advanced Lappack, Electric Jetpack, Advanced Electric Jetpack, GraviChestPlate, or NanoSuit at 64 EU/tick when in the sun. When charging an item, the MV Solar Hat causes very brief Nausea (less than a second of the effect).

CompactSolars Mod 1.12.2, 1.11.2 (Compact Solar Arrays) 16

The HV Solar Hat is a helmet from CompactSolars. It functions as an improved Solar Helmet. It can charge any worn armor or utilities, such as the QuantumSuit set, a GraviChestPlate or a Lappack, at 512 EU/tick when in the sun. When charging an item, the HV Solar Hat causes about 6 seconds of Nausea every 6 seconds.

CompactSolars Mod 1.12.2, 1.11.2 (Compact Solar Arrays) 17

The Low Voltage Solar Array is a block added by CompactSolars that is an upgrade from the regular Solar Panel. It generates power at a rate equivalent to the Advanced Solar Panel provided that the sky is visible, although it does not have any internal storage and also outputs its power at a rate of 8 EU/p as opposed to the Advanced Solar Panel’s packet size of 32 EU/p. This, however, does not allow Low Voltage Solar Arrays to use Ultra-Low-Current Cable to transfer power instead of Copper Cable.

Eight Solar Panels (which each output 1 EU/t by default) are needed in crafting this generator; thus, upgrading to a Solar Array does not serve to generate more power, merely serving to allow the same quantity of power to be generated in a smaller quantity of space and more easily passed along a Cable.

Eight Low Voltage Solar Arrays can be upgraded into a Medium Voltage Solar Array, and 8 of those are required for a High Voltage Solar Array.

Uses

CompactSolars Mod 1.12.2, 1.11.2 (Compact Solar Arrays) 19

The Medium Voltage Solar Array is a block added by the CompactSolars mod. The second tier solar array, it generates 64 EU per tick and outputs packets of the same size. Upgrading to a Medium Voltage Solar Array allows to generate the same amount of power from a 12.5% smaller area. The Array doesn’t have any internal energy buffer and neither does it charges power items.

CompactSolars Mod 1.12.2, 1.11.2 (Compact Solar Arrays) 20

The High Voltage Solar Array is the third and topmost tier of solar arrays added by CompactSolars. It is made using 8 Medium Voltage Solar Arrays, which each require 8 Low Voltage Solar Arrays, which each require 8 Solar Panels, bringing the total up to 512 Solar Panels in total plus a stack of LV-Transformers, 8 MV-Transformers and a single HV-Transformer, making it a very expensive and resource-intensive item to create just one. The iron necessary for the generators alone would amount to 32 MACERATED stacks of Iron Ore. If GregTech 4 is installed, many stacks of Silicon Cells and possibly an Industrial Blast Furnace are also necessary.

The High Voltage Solar Array generates and outputs 512 EU/p (HV). It has no internal storage and no method of charging items, so if the Array is connected to no cables, all of its power generation will be for naught. Due to its high output, it requires Glass Fibre Cable or HV Cable (Gold Cable also acceptable in Industrialcraft 2 Experimental) to connect it to a power storage unit. The High Voltage Solar Array is made from 512 Solar Panels, each producing 1 EU/t, so the Solar Array does not serve to generate more power, but merely to generate the same amount of power in a smaller and more compact space.

Since the High Voltage Solar Array takes 512 Solar Panels to craft, doing it manually takes several hours. One of the ways to automate this process is to set up an ME Molecular Assembler Chamber to craft the High Voltage Solar Arrays. The EMC of a High Voltage Solar Array is the equivalent of 323 Diamonds.
