Does Chisel Refabricated work with Forge?

No, this is a Fabric-only mod. You need Fabric Loader and Fabric API to run it. There is no Forge version available.

How do I actually use the chisel tool?

Craft a chisel and hold it in your hand. Right-click any supported block and a GUI opens showing all available texture variants for that block. Click the one you want and the block changes immediately, no crafting table required.

Do I need anything besides Fabric Loader?

Yes, Fabric API is also required. Without it the mod will not load at all. You can grab both from the links in the requirements section above.

Is this the same as the original Chisel mod?

It's a Fabric port and spiritual successor. The original Chisel mod targeted older versions of Minecraft and ran on Forge. Chisel Refabricated brings those block designs to modern Fabric versions with the same core chisel mechanic.

Will this work with my other building mods?

Generally yes. It plays well with most other Fabric building mods. Just make sure all your mods are on the same Minecraft version and you have the right Fabric API version installed.

Chisel Refabricated is a Fabric port of the classic Chisel mod, and it’s one of the better building mods out there for texture variety. It adds a chisel tool that lets you convert blocks into different visual variants without changing the block type. Builders who want more than the handful of vanilla stone textures will get a lot out of this.

What Chisel Refabricated Adds

The core mechanic is simple: craft a chisel, hold it, and right-click a block. A UI opens showing all the available variants for that block. Pick one and it changes on the spot. No crafting table needed once you have the chisel.

The mod brings back a huge number of block textures from older Chisel versions, so a lot of the designs are tried and tested. Stone variants are the main draw, but brick, sandstone, and other block families get covered too. Old block designs that were dropped in newer Minecraft versions are back and actually look great.
