This Minecraft tutorial explains how to craft a bottle o’enchanting with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.

In Minecraft, a bottle o’enchanting is a handy item that spawns experience orbs. Although it can not be crafted in the game, a bottle o’enchanting is available through the Creative Inventory menu or you can get one by trading with a villager that is a Cleric.

Let’s learn how to add a bottle o’enchanting to your inventory.

Background

Although a bottle o’enchanting looks a lot like a potion, you don’t drink it. Instead, you throw it on the ground similar to a splash potion. When the bottle breaks, experience orbs will spawn.

These tiny green and yellow balls will move towards you and add experience to your experience bar.

The amount of experience that is spawned by the bottle o’enchanting can vary between 3 and 11 experience points.

ow to craft a Bottle o’Enchanting in Survival Mode

1. Find a Villager that is a Cleric

Each villager will have different trades depending on its career. To get a bottle o’enchanting in Survival mode, you need to find a villager that has a career of Cleric. This type of villager wears purple robes, but its appearance can differ slightly depending on the biome it is found in. This is what a Cleric looks like in a Plains village:

2. Trade with the Cleric

To get a bottle o’enchanting, you must trade with a Cleric that has a career level of Master. Chance are, you will not be lucky enough to find a Cleric already at a Master level, so you will need to trade with the Cleric until it levels up to Master. The following are the career levels that a villager will naturally progress through:

Novice -> Apprentice -> Journeyman -> Expert -> Master

The following is a list of the trades for a Cleric at the different career levels in Minecraft:

Career Level Buy Sell
Novice 32 rotten flesh 1 emerald
Novice 1 emerald 2 redstone dust
Apprentice 3 gold ingot 1 emerald
Apprentice 1 emerald 1 lapis lazuli
Journeyman 2 rabbits foot 1 emerald
Journeyman 4 emeralds 1 glowstone
Expert 9 glass bottles 1 emerald
Expert 5 emeralds 1 ender pearl
Master 22 nether warts 1 emerald
Master 3 emeralds 1 bottle o’enchanting

Based on the table above, the bottle o’enchanting will be the very last trade in the trade window once the Cleric has achieved a career level of Master.

The number of emeralds that the Cleric wants for the bottle o’enchanting will depend on how generous the villager is. In this tutorial, you can trade 3 emeralds for 1 bottle o’enchanting.

Complete the trade and you will now have a bottle o’enchanting in your inventory.
