This Minecraft tutorial explains how to craft a block of amethyst with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.

In Minecraft, a block of amethyst is a new item that was introduced in the Caves & Cliffs Update: Part I. Amethyst blocks will create beautiful sounds when you walk on them, break them, place them, or hit them with a projectile. A block of amethyst can either be crafted or gathered in the game.

How to craft a Block of Amethyst in Survival Mode

1. Open the Crafting Menu

First, open your crafting table so that you have the 3×3 crafting grid that looks like this:

2. Add Items to make a Block of Amethyst

In the crafting menu, you should see a crafting area that is made up of a 3×3 crafting grid. To make a block of amethyst, place 4 amethyst shards in the 3×3 crafting grid.

When making a block of amethyst, it is important that the amethyst shards are placed in the exact pattern as the image below. In the first row, there should be 1 amethyst in the first box and 1 amethyst in the second box (the third box should be empty). In the second row, there should be 1 amethyst in the first box and 1 amethyst in the second box (the third box should be empty). This is the Minecraft crafting recipe for a block of amethyst.

Now that you have filled the crafting area with the correct pattern, the block of amethyst will appear in the box to the right.

How to gather a Block of Amethyst in Survival Mode

In Minecraft, you can add a block of amethyst to your inventory in Survival mode by finding a block of amethyst in a geode in your world and then gathering it. So, let’s get started!

1. Find a Geode

First, you need to find a geode in your Minecraft world. Geodes are found underground in the Overworld, sometimes at the end of an underground cave system. Other times, you will have to mine to find one.

Block of Amethyst - Wiki Guide 11

A geode is made of 3 layers – the outer layer is smooth basalt, the second layer is calcite, and the inner layer is blocks of amethyst and budding amethyst (with different growth stages of amethyst).

2. Hold a Pickaxe

To mine a block of amethyst, you need to dig up the block of amethyst with a pickaxe.

Other tools will not dig up the block of amethyst and let you add it to your inventory.

In this example, we are going to use an iron pickaxe to dig up the block of amethyst.

3. Mine the Block of Amethyst

Find the inner layer in the geode and mine the block of amethyst with any pickaxe.
