Magnesium Oxide Compound Guide

Learn how to craft Magnesium Oxide compound in Minecraft Education Edition with step-by-step recipe instructions.

This guide explains how to craft Magnesium Oxide, a chemistry compound in Minecraft Education Edition, Pocket Edition, Windows 10, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Magnesium Oxide is one of several compounds you can create using the compound creator. It’s available in the Chemistry Update and works on any version that has Education Edition features enabled. The recipe is straightforward once you have the right materials.

Materials You Need

To make Magnesium Oxide, you’ll need these two elements:

  • 1 Magnesium
  • 1 Oxygen

That’s it. Just these two elements create the compound.

How to Make Magnesium Oxide

Step 1: Open the Compound Creator

First, open your compound creator. You’ll see the compound creator menu with a 3×3 grid and an output box.

Step 2: Add Your Elements to the Grid

Place 1 magnesium and 1 oxygen in the 3×3 crafting grid. You can put them anywhere in the grid. The position doesn’t matter. Once you’ve placed both elements, the compound creator will automatically create the Magnesium Oxide in the output box on the right side.

Step 3: Move It to Your Inventory

Click the Magnesium Oxide in the output box and drag it to your inventory. You now have your compound.

That’s all there is to it. You’ve made Magnesium Oxide, which has the chemical formula MgO.

Enabling Chemistry Features

If you’re playing on Pocket Edition, Windows 10, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch, you’ll need to enable Education Edition features to access the chemistry compounds.

Go to your world settings and toggle the Education Edition option. When you do this, Minecraft creates a copy of your world that starts with [EDU] in the name. This new world contains all the chemistry features. Your original world stays unchanged.

After that, you can use the compound creator and make chemistry compounds like Magnesium Oxide.
