Super Multi-Drills adds Redstone Flux powered drills to Minecraft that work like crazy-fast pickaxes and shovels. Mine wood, stone, ores, all of it. Craft them with different parts to dial in exactly what you need: pick your drill head for mining speed, grab a motor for harvest level, load it with a battery for energy, and snap on a chassis in your favorite color.
The best part? Upgrades let you do even more. Add a Saw upgrade to mine wood like an axe. Throw on an Area Miner to bust out 3×3 blocks at once. Grab a Graviton Generator to mine underwater and while flying without penalty. All the customization uses normal crafting, no special machines needed.
Key Features
Energy Usage
Drills burn energy based on how hard the block is, your drill head material, and Efficiency enchantments. The energy formula is configurable in the config file if you want to tweak it. The mod even tracks unused variables like Silk Touch and Fortune in case you want to add those effects later.
Building Your Drill
Every drill needs four parts: a head, a motor, a battery, and a chassis. The mod includes recipes that pull from other mods like Ender IO, Thermal Foundation, and Mekanism if you have them installed. If you don’t have those mods, vanilla fallback recipes kick in.
- Head: Changes mining speed, energy efficiency, and damage. Make one from nearly any metal or gem you have.
- Motor: Sets harvest level and mining speed. Three tiers available, all configurable.
- Battery: Holds energy (five tiers with configurable capacity). Charge stays when you swap parts.
- Chassis: Pick your color. No mechanical effects, just looks.
Upgrading Your Drills
Swap parts by crafting your existing drill with new components. The old parts drop back out, so you’re not wasting materials. Change head appearance using the material (ingot, gem, etc). Use dyes to repaint the chassis without needing a new one.
Real upgrades add special effects:
- Saw: Mine wood blocks like an axe would.
- Area Miner: Break a 3×3 area (disable with sneak).
- Graviton Generator: No mining speed penalty when you’re flying or underwater.
Mod Recipes
The mod tries to use parts from other mods first. Fun Ores recipes are expensive but balanced for a tool that never breaks. Ender IO recipes are cheaper than Thermal Foundation. Mekanism recipes might be too cheap (it’s not well tested). If none of those mods exist, vanilla recipes get used instead.
