What is Black Concrete Powder?
Black concrete powder is a building block in Minecraft that you craft using sand, gravel, and black dye. When you craft it, you get 8 blocks at a time. The powder itself looks like regular concrete but lighter. You need to place it next to water to turn it into solid black concrete.
Materials You Need
To craft black concrete powder, gather these items:
- 4 Sand
- 4 Gravel
- 1 Black Dye
Note: You can use red sand instead of regular sand in most versions, though not PC/Mac for some recipes. Check your version if you’re using red sand.
How to Craft Black Concrete Powder
Step 1: Open Your Crafting Table
Open a crafting table to get the 3×3 crafting grid.
Step 2: Place Items in the Correct Pattern
Arrange the items like this in your crafting grid:
- Row 1: Black Dye, Sand, Sand
- Row 2: Sand, Sand, Gravel
- Row 3: Gravel, Gravel, Gravel
It’s important to get the pattern right or the recipe won’t work. Once you place everything correctly, the black concrete powder will appear in the result box on the right.
Step 3: Move to Your Inventory
Click the black concrete powder and drag it to your inventory. You’ll get 8 blocks from one craft.

What You Can Make With It
The main thing to do with black concrete powder is turn it into black concrete. Place the powder next to water and it hardens immediately. You can also just use the powder itself if you like the texture for your builds.
