The mod creates two additional layers of stone, called strata, beneath the surface. Each layer sits 23 blocks deep, starting from bedrock at the bottom. The deeper you go, the harder the stone gets.

Progressive Mining Difficulty

Top layer: Regular Minecraft stone that any pickaxe can break.
Middle layer: Requires at least an Iron Pickaxe to mine.
Bottom layer: Requires at least a Diamond Pickaxe to mine.

Affected Blocks

Stone isn’t the only thing affected. Dirt and gravel in each strata layer require shovels of the matching tier to break. Ores in strata layers can still be mined with the standard pickaxe for that ore type.
