Backpacks Mod adds wearable and storable backpacks to Minecraft that actually solve inventory management. You can craft backpacks in multiple sizes and colors, then either wear them in your armor slot or keep them in your inventory. Each backpack works like a portable chest, letting you carry way more stuff without constantly running back to base.
What You Get
Regular Backpacks
Craft these like a chest but use leather instead of wood. They hold 27 slots, same as a single chest.
Big Backpacks
Upgrade any regular backpack by surrounding it with tanned leather. Doubles your storage to 54 slots (double chest size).
Colored Backpacks
Add any dye to your backpack recipe to get 16 different colors. Pick whatever matches your vibe.
Ender Backpacks
Craft an ender backpack using an ender chest recipe. It syncs with your main ender storage, so whatever you put in it appears in your ender chest.
How to Use
- Hold a backpack in your hand and right-click to open it anytime
- Put any backpack in your personal backpack slot (press Sneak + B by default)
- Once equipped, press B to open your backpack instantly
- Rename a backpack by sneaking and right-clicking it
Crafting
For exact recipes, install Just Enough Items (Forge) or Roughly Enough Items (Fabric). The basic crafting patterns are:
Basic Backpack: Arrange leather in a chest pattern with string in the center
Big Backpack: Surround a regular backpack with tanned leather
Tanned Leather: Smelt bound leather in a furnace. One coal gives you 8 tanned leather
Bound Leather: Place 2 leather in the middle slots and string in the surrounding spaces
Colored Backpack: Add any dye in the middle of a backpack recipe
Recoloring: Use a dye or the matching leather on an existing backpack to change its color
Installation
This mod requires Minecraft Forge.
- Install Minecraft Forge for your version
- Download the mod jar file below
- Put it in your .minecraft/mods folder
- Launch Minecraft and play
