What is NoDamI Mod?
NoDamI removes Minecraft’s damage immunity system. Normally after getting hit, you get 10 ticks (half a second) of protection from the next hit. This mod changes that, making every attack count.
Better combat in PvP and PvE is the whole point. No more standing in a mob pack untouched while immunity frames tick down. You have to actually dodge, position properly, and time your attacks. Fights get risky and rewarding.
Features
- No damage immunity frames by default
- Some damage sources still give i-frames (like lava damage)
- Certain mobs still get i-frames on their attacks (like slimes)
- Weak attacks under 10% charge don’t work at all
- Attacks under 75% charge don’t knock enemies back
Full Configuration Control
The mod creates a config file so you can adjust everything to your liking. You can turn features on or off, add specific mobs to the i-frame lists, and set minimum charge requirements for attacks.
To add a mob to the lists, use its savegame ID. For example, vanilla slime is minecraft:slime, Tinkers’ blue slime is tconstruct:blueslime. You can also add entire mod contents at once using the format modname:* like grimoireofgaia:*.
To find a mob’s ID, install Hwyla and Wawla to see mob names in tooltips. Or try summoning it with a command and using autocomplete to find the ID.
Why This Matters for Combat
Before 1.9 Minecraft let you attack whenever you wanted. To balance things out, Mojang added damage immunity. Then 1.9 brought attack cooldowns, and suddenly immunity frames became a problem.
Good attack timing now matters more than spam clicking. But damage immunity punishes proper timing. Fast weapons over 2.0 attack speed get hit hardest. In group fights, coordinated attacks waste damage on immunity frames instead of dealing damage.
Without immunity, mob packs are actually dangerous. Charging in solo gets you killed. You have to think about where you’re standing and who’s attacking you. Combat becomes tactical instead of just tanking hits.
Gun mods also break with damage immunity since only 2 pellets can hit per second. This mod lets shotguns and machine guns work the way they should.
