Cobblestone walls are solid building blocks that connect to adjacent walls and create fences without slowing you down when you walk through them. They’re great for decorative builds, defensive structures, or just adding detail to terrain.
Crafting Cobblestone Walls
What You Need
To craft cobblestone walls, you just need:
- 6 Cobblestones
How to Craft
Open your crafting table to bring up the 3×3 grid. Place the 6 cobblestones in this pattern:
- First row: 3 cobblestones
- Second row: 3 cobblestones
Leave the bottom row empty. This crafts 6 cobblestone walls at once, so you get a lot out of one batch.

Stack Size
Cobblestone walls stack to 64, so you can hold a lot of them at once.

Walls automatically connect to other walls next to them. You can also place them freestanding if you want a single post. They won’t slow you down when you walk through them, which makes them different from other fence types.
Block ID
The ID is minecraft:cobblestone_wall. If you’re using commands or datapacks, you might need this for setblock or fill commands.
Other Wall Types
Cobblestone isn’t your only option. You can also make walls from stone brick, nether brick, brick, prismarine, red sandstone, granite, andesite, diorite, sandstone, blackstone, deepslate variants, and more. Same crafting recipe, different materials.
