Do I need any other mods installed for Dynamic Torches to work?

You need a mod loader: Forge, Fabric, or Quilt. The mod itself has no other required dependencies, though Just Enough Items or Roughly Enough Items will let you browse recipes in-game.

Will this mod hurt my FPS?

Dynamic lighting does add some GPU work, so you may notice a small performance hit in torch-heavy areas. Most modern machines handle it fine, but if you're already on low FPS it's worth testing before committing.

Which items actually give off light?

Player Lighting

Any torch or light source in your hand will emit real dynamic light. No more stumbling through caves with a torch in your inventory that does nothing.

Item Lighting

Dropped light sources continue to emit light on the ground. Actually useful when you accidentally drop something in a dark area and need to find it.

Mob Lighting

Mobs that hold light sources will illuminate the space around them. Makes encounters in the dark a bit more atmospheric and actually dangerous looking.

Install Just Enough Items (Forge) or Roughly Enough Items (Fabric) to browse all recipes in-game.
