Cathedral Map is a creation map by Ashketus featuring a large Gothic cathedral built inside the fictional English city of Derwick. There are no objectives or gameplay mechanics here, just a seriously detailed build to walk through and admire. It’s a work in progress, but what’s here already puts most cathedral builds to shame.
About Derwick Cathedral
Ashketus based this cathedral on English Gothic architecture, and it shows. Pointed arches, tall spires, layered stonework, proper interior nave spacing, the whole thing is built with a level of care you don’t usually see in Minecraft showcase maps. The cathedral sits inside the city of Derwick, so you’re not just looking at a building floating in a void. There are streets and surrounding structures that give it actual context.
What’s Inside the Map
The Cathedral
The main build takes a while to properly explore. The interior has height and scale that’s hard to pull off in Minecraft, and Ashketus has done a solid job with the lighting and window detail. It’s worth going through slowly rather than just flying around.
The City of Derwick
The cathedral is surrounded by a built-out city. It’s not a full open-world town, but there’s enough around the cathedral to make it feel grounded. Walking through the streets before approaching the cathedral gives you a better sense of its actual size.
Ongoing Development
Ashketus has flagged this as a work in progress, so sections are still being added and refined. The current download is already worth getting, but if you want to follow updates, keep an eye on the creator’s page. Feedback is also welcome since the builder is still actively shaping it.
Version Compatibility
This map works with Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 and 1.20.1. Use the matching version when loading it to avoid missing blocks or broken geometry.
