The Crafting Automat adds one block to your game. Send it a redstone pulse and it crafts one recipe, then pushes the output out the front face. It works with any recipe in the game, including ones added by other mods, and plays nicely with hoppers and pipes. If you’ve been looking for a low-overhead way to automate crafting that doesn’t feel like a foreign object in your world, this one fits.
How It Works
Think of it as a Dropper that crafts. It has a 9-slot internal storage, and as long as those slots hold enough ingredients to match the recipe you’ve set up, one redstone pulse fires off one craft. The result gets pushed to whatever container is attached to the front face, including minecart chests.
Hoppers and pipes work with the storage slots directly, so automating ingredient supply is straightforward. The block also handles item returns correctly: if a recipe gives back a leftover item (like the empty Bucket from a Cake), that goes back into the storage instead of getting lost.
Comparator Output
Attach a comparator to read how many crafts the current storage can support. The output scales logarithmically:
- 1 recipe = 1 redstone power
- 2 recipes = 2 redstone power
- 4 recipes = 3 redstone power
- 8 recipes = 4 redstone power
Timing
Each crafting operation takes 24 game ticks, with 16 of those being cooldown. Hook it up to 3 hoppers feeding a full 9-slot recipe and it all syncs cleanly, since each hopper moves one item every 8 ticks.
Viewing Recipes In-Game
Install Just Enough Items (Forge) or Roughly Enough Items (Fabric) to browse the recipes for this mod without leaving the game.
How to Install
- Download and install Minecraft Forge for your Minecraft version.
- Download the Crafting Automat mod file for your version from the section below.
- Drop the .jar file into your
.minecraft/modsfolder. - Launch Minecraft with the Forge profile and you’re set.
