Do these animals replace the default Minecraft dolphins?

No, they are separate entities. The vanilla Minecraft dolphin is still in the game. The addon adds new species on top of what's already there.

Why do I need to enable cheats for this addon to work?

The addon uses commands internally to handle some of its AI and spawning logic. Without cheats enabled, those commands won't run and the animals may not behave correctly.

Will the animals spawn in my existing world or do I need a new one?

They should spawn naturally in new chunks as you explore. If you want them to appear right away, you may need to explore areas you haven't visited yet since already-generated chunks won't update.

Can I use Better Seas Mammals alongside other addons?

Usually yes, but conflicts are possible if another addon also replaces ocean mob behavior or uses the same entity IDs. Test on a separate world first before adding it to a main save.

The Better Seas Mammals Addon fills Minecraft’s empty oceans with real animal species, each with custom models, proper animations, and AI that actually reacts to you and the environment. It started with dolphins and has grown to include whales, seals, otters, walruses, and more. If you’ve ever found vanilla ocean biomes boring, this one’s worth trying.

Dolphins and Cetaceans

The first wave focuses on dolphins and closely related species. Models and textures come from Dinoking2021, with animations and AI by DolphinMasterMB. These animals spawn naturally based on ocean type and behave differently from each other. Spawn location key: wo = Warm Ocean, co = Cold Ocean, fo = Frozen Ocean, r = River, b = Beach, sb = Stone Beach, sw = Swamp, m = Mangrove Swamp.

Semi-Aquatic Animals

A later update added a whole range of semi-aquatic creatures, ranging from tiny sea otters to massive elephant seals. Some will ignore you, others won’t. Each animal has a different reaction to players and other mobs, so don’t expect them all to behave the same way.

Before You Install

Delete any older version of the addon before installing the new one. Old and new versions do not stack and will conflict.
Enable cheats in your world settings or the addon will not work properly.

How to Install

Download the .mcaddon file from the link below.
Tap or double-click the file. Minecraft should open and import it automatically.
Create a new world or edit an existing one.
Go to Behavior Packs in world settings and activate the addon.
Make sure cheats are enabled, then load your world.
