If you’re stuck on 1.19.2 but want the archaeology stuff from 1.20, this mod does exactly that. It ports over the brushing mechanic, suspicious blocks, trailing ruins, and ancient pottery with no new mobs and no sniffer. Just the digging experience, nothing extra.
It’s also built as an API, so other mod authors can hook into it and add their own archaeology loot or structures. Good for modpack builders.
What It Adds
Trailing Ruins
Ruins generate in the world with suspicious blocks around them. Follow the pattern, brush away the dirt, find out what’s buried. The same basic loop as vanilla 1.20.
Brushing and Suspicious Blocks
Suspicious sand and gravel spawn with items inside. Use a brush to carefully clear them. Go too fast and the block breaks, so you lose whatever was in it.
Ancient Pottery
Collect pottery shards from archaeological sites and combine them to craft decorated pots. Mostly cosmetic, but a satisfying reward for the time you put in digging.
Developer API
Other mods can register their own shards, loot tables, and ruin structures through the API. If you’re building a modpack, this is the backbone for any custom archaeology content.
