Does Baby Animals Model Swapper change how baby animals behave?

No. It only swaps the visual models. Baby animals still behave like vanilla Minecraft animals. If you want the taming and following mechanics, you need the full Baby Animals Mod alongside it.

What exactly is a Squicken?

A Squicken is a mob that's part chicken, part squid. They don't spawn on their own, so you won't find them in the wild. Create two adults, breed them with raw fish, and they'll produce ink sacs the same way chickens produce eggs.

Do I need anything besides Forge to run this mod?

No extra dependencies. Just install Forge for your Minecraft version, then drop the mod jar into your .minecraft/mods folder and you're good to go.

Will this conflict with other animal mods I'm using?

It can. Any mod that also modifies baby animal models or replaces the same entity renderers could cause visual glitches or crashes. If something looks wrong after adding this mod, that's likely the cause.

What is the newest Minecraft version this works on?

The latest version available is 1.14.4. There are also builds going all the way back to 1.6.4, so most older modpacks are covered.

Baby Animals Model Swapper & Squickens Mod 1.14.4/1.12.2

Baby Animals Model Swapper replaces the default vanilla baby animal models with the ones from the original Baby Animals Mod. That’s all it does. The animals still behave exactly like vanilla, you still interact with them the same way. You’re just swapping out how they look, and the original Baby Animals Mod models are noticeably better.

This download also includes the Squickens Mod, which adds a chicken-squid hybrid mob to the game.

Baby Animals Features

The mod includes the full Baby Animals behavior set, not just the model swap:

Tame baby animals by giving them wheat
Feed seeds to a tamed baby and it’ll follow you. Don’t run too fast or you’ll lose them.
Right-click with an empty hand to make them stop following
Give them cactus greens to make them wild again
Thrown eggs have a small chance of hatching chicks
Baby animals won’t follow adults
Give a tamed baby a birthday cake to age it into a permanently tamed adult
Tame sheep can be dyed and sheared using flint. Wool regrows in one Minecraft day (20 minutes).
Tame pigs can be saddled. Right-click with a stick to mount or dismount. The saddle doesn’t come back off once placed.
Tame chickens lay eggs every 5-10 minutes
Give a second cake to a tamed cow, sheep, or pig and they’ll have a baby after 9, 5, or 4 Minecraft days respectively. 1/32 chance of twins.
Redstone dust fully heals tame animals, instantly regrows sheep wool, forces a chicken to lay an egg, and triggers instant birth for pregnant animals

Squickens Mod

Squickens are a cross between a chicken and a squid. They don’t spawn naturally, so they won’t overrun your world. Once you have two adult squickens, breed them with raw fish. Adults drop ink sacs periodically the same way chickens drop eggs. Otherwise they behave like chickens and can be lassoed and farmed normally.
